Question

Hello. I have a 96 Grand Am with the 3100 V6. It has sat for a year in a garage. I got it out of hibernation last week and have driven 140 miles on the old gas. Now it won't run. The car starts and runs for 3 to 5 seconds and then stops. I have put heet in the tank to evaporate gas and a fuel injector cleaner with two gallons of new gas. The vehicle still does the same thing. The engine will run longer on starting fluid. The fuel pump and fuel filter were replaced two years ago. What could it be? I called my local dealership's service department and all he could say was "hard to say". What do you think it could be. I am gonna replace the fuel filter again tomorrow.

I would also start by replacing the fuel filter but if that does not help I would check the fuel pressure, there is a sock type filter on the fuel pump that may be clogged but if it has low fuel pressure you may need to replace the whole fuel pump assembly.
