How can I fix turn signal problem with H2 ? 2005 H2 SUV - When "Left" turn signal is on, both left and right signals on the rear bumper blink. (When "Right" turn signal, only right rear bumper signal blinks). No knowledge, but just checked LT and RT fuses etc. that seem to be fine.

Info Request

If you remove the fuse labeled RT TURN does this problem go away? Does the indicator on the instrument panel also light up for the right hand turn?

No. Still both signals blink. Left indicator lights up, but right indicator doesn't (and click sounds gets quicker).

Hope this helps you determine.

Thanks

Answer

Ok, the first thing I would recommend is unhooking the connector on the back side of the trailer socket and verify that there are no signs of moisture at this point. I would also check the turnsignal operation at this point. Beyond this area, these models are known for a problem with the rear junction block located on the underside of the rear body near the center of the rear bumper. I have seen several of these units that actually corroded and allowed for moisture intrusion in which caused for problems like this. I would remove the connectors attaching to this point and verify that they are clean and dry. I would also look for any signs of corrosion on the actual junction block itself to see if this item has any signs of corrosion also. Feel free to contact me with any questions or findings and I will assist you as best as possible. Good luck!

I removed "RT TRN" fuse last time, but just found "RT/TRLR" fuse next to it, and found that removing it would right turn signal disabled. But in this case, right turn signal doesn't blink when the left turn signal lever is on. This should be much better, but any ways to make the right turn signal blink ?

Thanks

Answer

Ok then you just eliminated the chance of this being a left hand voltage source powering the right hand signal. Thats great. The only item that is really left would be the TURNSIGNAL HAZARD FLASHER MODULE. These have been another big problem on all of the newer gm trucks and suvs.

What is that ?

Answer

This module is located on the backside of the instrument panel fuse block and controls all of the turn signals and hazard lamps. Its basically a flasher and control unit all in one.

OK, I can't see it, and maybe too much for a person without knowledge...

Can I leave the "RT/TRLR" removed ? Does it create another issue or side effects ?

If this doesn't hurm the car, I would live with it.

Thanks

Accepted Answer

I would not figure that it would hurt anything unless you decide to pull a trailer using the bumper mounted trailer connector. I would just verify that the brake lights work as they should. The module is a large relay looking device on the backside of the instrument fuse panel.

Thanks. I'm not interested in pulling a trailer, and the brake lights work. I will stay with this. Thanks a lot for your help.
