that seems strange to me if it is an allergy related response. Can you give me his weight roughly>? I'll give you some dosages.

you can try childrens' benadryl at 1 tsp every 8 to 12 hours. See if that helps with the itchiness. If not then he may benefit from a very low dose of steroid just to curb the itching. Red belly may be a contact allergy. Make sure you aren't using any carpet/furniture cleaner or floor cleaners. Many dogs are sensitive to these types of things. If the oatmeal baths don't work, try cool compressing his belly a few times a day. I also recommend fatty acids. THey should be a combination of omega 3 and omega 6. They are good for allergy dogs. I like 3V HP snip tips by DVM.

WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS I HAVEN'T CHANGED A THING. THE REASON I AM ASKING THIS IS BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO SEE THIS HAPPEN TO HIM AGAIN. WHAT IS OMEGA 3&6 AND WHERE DO YOU GET THIS AND THE 3V HP SNIP TIPS BY DVM.

Answer

many dogs can develop allergies later in life. It is difficult to pinpoint exact cause if you can't think of anything that has changed. it can be something he is inhaling, something that touches his skin, food. The list is endless. Here is a link to the 3V caps
