Hello,

Has your wireless always been controlled by Windows or by the Wifimax software?

I am not that computer litterate, but from what i can gather on the net it is run by the wifimax software called zydas...

Answer

Ok, first let me know what happens when you click Yes to the question asked by the popup box. The Zydas software is providing this popup yet Windows controls the configuration. Most likely your configuration settings are contained within the Zydas software which is why the wireless network is no longer connecting (the Windows wireless software does not contain the same settings). So the quickest way to resolve the issue would be to move control of the wireless connection back to the Zydas software.

If clicking Yes in the popup box does not work then do the following:

1. Go to Network Connections (from the left panel of My Network Places)
2. Right click on the icon for your wireless network card, and choose Properties
3. In the Properties dialog box, choose the middle "Wireless Networks" tab
4. Check or Uncheck the box on the top that enables Windows management of wireless connections and click Ok.

Let me know if the above resolves the issue.

Ok, follow the procedure below to disable the Wireless Zero Configuration and let me know if that resolves the issue:

1. Click Start and right click Computer and click Manage.

2. In the window that appears under Services and Applications, select Services.

3. Scroll down and select WLAN AutoConfig.

4. Double-click the service and its properties window will appear. If the startup type is set to automatic, click on the dropdown arrow and change it to Manual. Click Stop to stop the service if it's started and click OK.

Before moving to more complex solutions try a System Restore.

1. Click Start, then All Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools.
2. Select System Restore and click Next.
3. Select a Restore Point that was prior to when the issue occurred and press Next and then Next again.
4. After the restore the computer will reboot.

Let me know if the above resolves the issue.

Answer

Hi,
The following procedure should help you out.

Before we get started, though, you need to make sure that your system has been configured to display hidden files. If it hasn’t, you’ll need to first open Windows Explorer, click Tools, and select Folder Options. Go to the View tab and scroll down until you come across the option “Show Hidden Files and Folders” and check it. Also, you’ll need to uncheck the option “Hide Protected Operating System Files (Recommended).” Click OK when finished.

Now to install the Wireless Zero Configuration service on your system, just follow the procedure outline below:

Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.

In the Control Panel window, if you’re in Category View, then under Pick a Category, double-click the Network and Internet Connections icon (if you’re in Classic View, click on the Network Connections icon ).

In the Network and Internet Connections window, under the Control Panel icon, double-click the Network Connections icon.

In the Network Connections window, under LAN or High Speed Internet, click to select the Local Area Connection icon.

On the menu bar, click File and select Properties from the file menu. (Altneratively, right-click on the Local Area Connection icon and select Properties from the context menu).

In the Local Area Connections Properties window, on the General tab, click the Install button.

In the Select Network Component Type window, in the Click the type of network box, click to select the Service icon.

Click the Add button.

In the Select Network Service window, click the Have Disk button.

Click the OK button.

In the Install From Disk window, click the Browse button.

In the Locate File window, browse to the C:\Windows\Inf folder (this is a hidden folder).

Click to select NETWZC.INF.

Click the Open button.

In the Install from Disk window, click the OK button.

In the Select Network Service window, in the Network Service box, select Microsoft as the manufacturer, and then click to select Wireless Zero Configuration.
Click the OK button.
At this point you’ll need to reboot your PC. With that completed, you should find that the Wireless Zero Configuration service has been successfully installed on your system and you should now have access to the Windows Network tab.

NOTE: If you don’t see the Wireless Network tab when you go back into the Network Properties Page, then the most likely reason is that the service did not start. To initialize it, open Administrative Tools in the Control Panel and select Services. Scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration, Right-click on it, and select Start. The service is now enabled, and the Wireless Network tab will be visible in Network Properties

I have read this answer before and can not even complete the first step.I have no "folder options" when I click on tools in "internet explorer". When I go to control panel for the setup step I only get as far as the first step clicking on Network and Internet Connections.i can not find Network Connections icon.

I think the problem is I am running Vista and not XP.It seems like no one can help me.

Answer

Hello,

Here is an easier way that may resolve the issue. Open the registry editor by clicking Start, then Search and type Regedit and press Enter. Now create a DWORD value named Start (click Edit, New, DWORD Value) in the following registry key and set it to 2:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WZCSV

After the edit your registry entry should look like the picture attached. Let me know if that resolves the issue or if you need assistance with the above procedure.

I can open the window but am not 100% sure what to do next. When i click Edit it allows me too click New but the window that is then brought up to the right of this is not in bold and does not allow me to click on any of the availeble options including D word value. This happens when I amtrying to do it from the TOP BAR menu.

However if I try it form the folder otions availeble below it it looks like I can do it,but since i am not sure which folder to use I would rather not chance it.I would think the H KEY LOCAL MACHINE FOLDER,but since I am not that computer litterate I would rather ask your advice first.

Answer

Ok, notice the lower bar of the regedit window displayed in the image gives you the path starting with the HkeyLocalMachine directory.

You can add it from the folder rather than the upper menus, it is the same DWORD function.

In order for you to do this with confidence, once you make the change press Alt + Print Screen and then open Paint and click Edit then Paste to paste an image of the screen then File, then Save As and save the image file as a jpeg format image and then use the tree icon in the toolbar in this forum to attach the image here so I can view and confirm the change.

Let me know if that helps or if you have more questions before proceeding.
