HI,
Is it a small Blue shield?
Also do you get popups warning you you are infected?
Let us know
Thanks
Ok,
If you double click the red shield can you tell me what happens?
Also what antivirus program are you using?
In that case can you click on the left where it says Change the way security center alerts me.
Next uncheck the three boxes then click OK to close the window.
Once you have done that can you download and run the free version of Malwarebytes anti Malware from here http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
Let me know if it finds anything.
Eric
Can you then click Remove infections on Malwarebytes and let it remove your infections then reboot and let me know if the icon in the taskbar has dissapeared and your machineis back to normal.
Seeing as you do not have a good firewall I would suggest you turn it as well as automatic updates on.
XoftspeSE is a good antimalware program that will hlep keep you from having issues with spyware, Malware etc.
Beyond that and your antivirus all yo uhould need to do is enable the Windows firewall and you will be as well protected as you can be.
If you have to have a third party firewall software I would recomend something like Zone Alarm which is free from here http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/zonealarm-pc-security-free-firewall.htm
Let me know if you need mroe info.
If you click on the left where it says Change the way security center alerts me.
Then uncheck the three boxes then click OK to close the window, your machine will not warn you about the programs status however the programs will work fine.
