Question

My 1997 Suzuki Samurai is stuck in 4WD (4H). I've tried shifting it when at a stand-still in neutral, and moving forwards and backwards in neutral, and I'm afraid to force it too much.

Optional Information

1997 Suzuki Samurai/Sidekic

Already Tried:
The 4WD shifter seems to be completely jammed, and I've tried moving it with the car in neutral while at a stand-still, moving forwards and backwards. I've only owned the car about 11 months and this is the first time I've put it into 4H (i've had it in 4L twice I think with no problem).

Accepted Answer

The four wheel lever can be hard to operate if it isn't used very often. I would carefully but forcefully disengage it by rocking the lever back and forth with the vehicle moving very slowly. This should free it up.
