Our year old spayed female urinates in the same corner kitchen cabinet surface place every day. It is a black surface and the urine is a milky white color (no crystalization) with thicker flecks in it? Any ideas?
BTW, no evidence of cystitis such as extended bladder, loose skin, sluggishness and she has normal pink gums.
Hello,
I'm sorry to hear about your cat. The only reason for urine to have a milky white color to it is because their is pus in it, which is a mixture of bacteria and the white blood cells trying to fight that bacteria. Thus, infection. It may be related to a urinary tract infection (and indeed infection can be a symptom of cystitis) or vaginitis, or if your cat is not spayed, a uterine infection. Cats with discomfort from infections often relate that discomfort to their litterbox and will choose another spot of their liking to use instead. Their would be no reason to show things like extended bladder, sluggishness, loose skin or anemia for an infection of this type, but irritation and inappropriate urination would ensure, and it is a fact that this color discharge is not normal and needs veterinary attention for a sterile collection and analysis of that urine, in order to choose appropriate medication for clearing this up, before it becomes more of a problem.
Good luck,
Christine
