I got Linux from a friend of mine,who completely left me to learn about it on my own and so far I don't like it,maybe because I don't know anything about it can you help me?

Linux is very different than windwos.

What specifically do you need help with?
What version of linux are you running?

Linux is open source so you can download a lot of free porgrams such as openoffice.org

You will have a home folder that is like your my documents.

I would be more than happy to answer specific questions but here is a good overview of how to use and understand the basics of linus. This specifically relates to Ubuntu linux but to a large degree it will all be the same for suse, ubuntu, redhat, etc....

Once you get to know how to use the operating system i think you will like it a lot. another plus is that you really dont have to worry about viruses and things like that.

I would also recomend using Gnome instead of KDE for your "theme" Gnome is much easier to use
