Question

I am a foster parent for a child. I've had her since birth and she is now 15 months old.   A relative whom the bio mom didn't even know stepped foward and was awarded 1055 temporary custody.   I have stated i was interested in adopting her. How can I stop the custody order??

I am in the process of obtaining a lawyer but need to stop a 1055 temporary custody order by Thursday Feb. 5th. I was told I was not allowed to participate in the custody hearing but since found out that I did indeed have a legal right to be there.. I want to adopt this child a provide her with a stable life.

Thanks for your question. You have the right to intervene here and try for custody. You have good facts as the child's caretaker here to present and be considered here. No doubt that you will need a lawyer to file and represent you here in this matter.

But I think that you may well have a good claim to be given custody and even to adopt the child in this matter. The judge would be impressed by your care that was rendered herre and your involvement with the child. I wish you good luck here and sympathy for the situation.
