Question

I have a 1997 Hyundai Sonata, the front passenger door handle dose not work, HOW DO I TAKE OFF THE INDIDE DOOR PANEL TO ACCESS THE DOOR HANDLE?

Not much, it all looks tightly fitting and I am hoping you can tell me how to access the inside panel so I can repair the handle lock/unlock. I also hope to get some drawings or other pictorials that show how to remove the panel and the the locking mechanism.

Hi,

 

Below are directions to remove the door panel, and door handle:

REMOVAL
1.Remove the door window regulator handle and then remove clip using a piece of cloth (Manual type only).

2.Remove the quadrant inner cover.
3.Remove the rear view mirror mounting screws and then remove the rear view mirror. Disconnect the remote control and mirror heated connector (Electric type only)

4.Remove the front door inside handle bezel.

5.Remove the mounting screw (1EA) from the door pull handle and then remove the door trim pull handle.

6.Remove the power window main switch. Disconnect the power window switch connector.

7.Remove the mounting screw (lEA) from the trunk opener switch and then disconnect the trunk opener switch connector.

8.Remove the mounting screws (4EA) from the front door trim panel.

9.Insert a screwdriver between the trim fasteners and then remove the door trim panel. Disconnect the door lamp connector.

10.Remove the pull handle mounting bracket and door inside handle and then remove the door trim seal.

Remove the front door belt weatherstrip.

12.Remove the carrier plate screws from the regulator channel.

13.Pull the door glass out through the window slot.

14.Remove the door regulator channel mounting bolts and then remove the door regulator assembly.

15.Turn the rod holding clip and then remove the rod from the latch assembly.

16.Remove the outside door handle mountings bolts.

17.Remove the door latch and door lock actuator.
