Question

Will the antibiotic Keflex work for a sinus infection. I was given it 4 months ago for Bronchitis, My doctor gave me enough that if the bronchitis did not go away with the first dose, I could treat again. I now have a sinus infection. Lots of pressure, nose clogged up, face and teeth hurt, and My drainage is now green. I know it is infected, but will Keflex work... Thank you

Sudafed, Theraflu, Alkaseltzer cold, Actifed, Afrin with steam...nothing working

First of all, we cannot recommend antibiotics taken for non-prescribed uses.

That being said, many cases of sinus infections are caused by viruses, and antibiotics would have no effect on those types of infections.

And Keflex is not typically an antibiotic that is prescribed for sinus infections.

More commonly prescribed are antibiotics like Augmentin/Amoxicillin, Bactrim, and Zithromax.
