Hi there,

I'm reading it off of the manual, do I need to look at the unit itself to get this info?

The problem appears to be that the microswitch for the "On" function of the touchpad has pretty much bit the dust. The manual just reads "KUDP01FL." If this touchpad is the same thing as the "user interface" part from Whirlpool, all the KUDP01FL..." models seem to be:
Part Number: AP3177796 (?).

I'm having my daughter look at it (I will check when I get home if this is wrong)... the number she found is XXXXXXX, but that sounds more like the serial number, yes?

do the buttons still work on the old one?

I just pulled out the unit, looks like I need to replace the ribbon cable and the user interface unit. The microswitch for the "on" function feels pretty loose and functions intermittently.

I'm pretty sure it is this one here:

I have found all the parts, what is your unit doing that you want the parts, from you initial decription you only wanted a new cover, what is it doing the dishwasher?

You push the start button and nothing happens... mash it some more, and you might get lucky. Mash mash mash... When it DOES work you can tell because the lights "Heavy," "Sanitize" and whatever you have selected will blink once. Otherwise they just sit there.

Okay, does the buttons look okay? they are not cracked or anything?

Yeah, they are cracked -- I should replace that piece as well then? The cancel button has a chip on it and the start button is pretty dented from being mashed on.

Accepted Answer

you are going to have to change 2 parts to repair this, the first one is the console and that is part number XXXXXXX, and the buttons underneath it, which is part number XXXXXXX , both of these items can be ordered at www.apwagner.com or www.repairclinic.com, or anyplace else you can find it cheaper.
