Thank you for the reply, what rpm range does the car idle at? Some idle fluctuation is normal....does the car seem to try and stall, does the check engine light come on or what exactly do you feel is the problem with the car?

no the engine light does not come on..
does it have to fo anything with the cold weather outside
i am in canada..so its cold here..

the rpm is below 1 after the car is heated up
it will fluctuate but stay below 1 only

has it to do some thing with the fuel filter

Answer

The car is supposed to idle at around 750 rpm's once it's warmed up.

When you first start the car cold it sould rev up to about 1,500 rpm's and slowly decrease idle speed, once the engine is warm the car should idle at 750 rpm's as long as the air conditioning/defroster is not turned on. With a/c or defrost the car should idle up to about 1,000 rpm's, if this does not happen you may have a sticking idle control valve.
