Question
I'm the manager of a family owned clothing store. There is only one other employee. I've been there since August 2007. I've only been on the books since early 2008. There are a lot things that aren't up to code in the store and i've worked an uncountable amount of shifts with no brakes. The store owner might fire me because i refuse to sell bootleg/knockoff clothing that he has recently stocked the store with. I know that he is breaking labor laws and it is illegal to sell some of the merchandise inside the store. Is there anything i can do?

I've tried discussing the matter with the owner of the store. I told him we should not be selling the bootleg/knockoff clothing, and i would not be a part of it. He told me that my job depends on selling the merchandise.
Answer
You can report him to the Labor Board for not paying you for all time worked and for selling illegal merchandise. You can also quit and get unemployment because as long as you quit for a good cause connected with the work, and it is good cause to quit to avoid doing something illegal, you are entitled to unemployment.
