my gf and i have a jack russel, beagel mix. (i think) and i was wondering how i can get her to use the bathroom out on the balcony. we havnt moved in yet. where shes at now she has a backyard with free roam of inside and out. what i was thinking was a sliding glass doggie door w/a home built box with grass in it outside on the balcony. but if there is somthing that would cost less and not so much effert. i would appreciate it.. thanx..

Hi,

The grass idea may sound good but the grass will be dead inside two weeks with all the urine put in that small space. Better is to get a large storage bin like for under beds and add litter, then train her to use the box. You should start now and put a few pieces of poop in it so the smell is there as an attractant. She must go outside onluy on a leash and only to the box for bathroom breaks with praise and food treats given immediately if she uses the box, then immediately go back inside. If she continues to have the backyard now you will have more accidents later when you move. Best wishes
