My check Engine light came on, other than going to the dealer, is there a way to find out what it is(minor that I could fix). Or is there no diagnostic equipment available for consumer use

Hi, its an 2004 4 cylinder

There are diagnostic tools that you can buy at just about any auto parts store to read the codes in your computer (code reader) some will give a bit of information on the code and others will just give the # of the code and in order to know what the code means you will need to access to a manual that lists them and the process to repair the problem.
