Question

I have a Shipon and she has flem in her throat all the time and she starts throwing up this flem and will keep it up for indefinate periods of time. I have taken her to five different vets and they just give her some medication and she will be ok for a while then it wil all start over again. I do not know what to do. I know she feels bad but she seems happy and will go out just like nothing is wrong and she will eat all the time then throw up more. Today she started and threw up food them flem and more flem, I gave her some thing the vets gave me for upset stomach and she threw that up also. I was told it is her breed and there is nothing they can do about the flem that stays in the back of her throat. I don't know what to do.

XXXXXXXXX,
A few questions for you and I will try to assist you:

1. have any of the vets taken x-rays of your dogs neck and chest?
2. when your dog vomits does she have active stomach contractions or does she passively regurgitate food (this is important)
3. Does she have nasal discharge?
4. Is Shipon a shih-tzu poodle cross?
5. How long has this problem been going on?
6. have any of the vets tested her blood? in particular do you know if a thyroid test was done?
7. Have you tried feeding her different foods or keeping her body upright for 10 minutes after feeding?
8. Are the signs worse after she eats solids or after she drinks liquids (or is there no difference)
9. Do you have access to veterinary specialists where you live?
10. Have any of the medications given her any improvement?
11. Does she have any other symptoms? (ie a cough)

Thank you and I will do my best to help you out. I have a feeling this could be pretty involved but I'm sure there is an explanation for these signs. It is probably not something that will be diagnosed over the internet but I may be able to help you to consider some options that haven't been previously explored.

Sincerely,
XX. XXXXX XXXXXX
