Answer
If it seems smelly, then this indicates infection and you would need to see your doctor. The two most common types of infections are a yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis. A yeast infection normally has a white, cottage cheese type discharge that smells like yeast. It may also cause itching and pain on or around the labia and thighs. Bacterial vaginosis usually has a fishy odor, and can cause a yellow tinged discharge that smells fishy. BV occurs when there is an overgrowth of bacteria that usually inhabit the body. It is not sexually transmitted, while a yeast infection can be. You will need to make an appointment with your doctor to determine what type of infection is present. BV will require prescription antibiotics, while a yeast infection is over the counter medication. In the mean time make sure you wear cotton underwear, and wipe from front to back. Avoid any type of douching, feminine sprays, washes, or wipes. If it is a yeast infection, eating yogurt daily is also helpful.
Most likely the bleeding is due to infection, rather than your period coming.
