Question

I am replacing the timer on a Kitchenaid KGYS850JQ1 gas dryer. The timer is model M460-G. I have the wiring diagram, but there is an existing white wire with blue stripe that is not shown on the diagram, and there are some unlabeled connectors on the timer. Where does this wire go? I have photos that show the timer wiring and diagram.

Answer

hello,

i did viewed youe pictures on the other site. unfortunately, if you used the model number of the timer "M460-G " , this is the base model number. meaning all the timer wih this model number would have the same base for mounting puposes. however, the contacts inside would be different for each particular model of your dryer.

i found the other numbers at the lower left to be useful. it would also indicate a timer for a particular machine. the timer in the picture has " XXXXXXXX "

can you check the old timer if it has those numbers and if they are different, then you have to order the timer with the same number as of those printed in the lower left hand corner.

another thing, can you send the electrical diagram of your unit and if the new timer comes with an electrical diagram, can you send it here also?. or e-mail me XXXXXXXXX@XXXXX.XXX

The part numbers are the same with the exception of the final letter, the original is A and the new one is B. The labeling and position of all contacts is the same. I will scan and send the diagram from the original unit.

Answer

hello,

i saw from the diagram that only two wires came off the temp selector which is the fabric selector at the panel, ( vilolet and blue) can you take a picture and send it to me and it might help us further.

i have to be off line for 2 hours and be back to continue on your porblem. by that time, my colleague could have found a solution as well.

Answer

hello sir,

the two wires that came out of the temperature selector in the diagram says its a blue and violet. the actual wires used were white with blue and white with violet.so trace the diagram and hook the white with blue to where the blue wire is connected to the timer as the diagram says.

i hope that will solve your problem now.

Answer

hello,

you mean it will not start? is that the original problem why do you replace the timer?

305 days and 2 hours ago.

Reply

Prior to replacing the timer, the machine would start and run normally, but the timer would stick in one place and not advance. Now, nothing happens at all.
