Answer

Hello XXXXXXX,

I use a 13/16 wrench for the oil cooler lines. Watch out for the o-ring on the line. They fall off sometimes.
You can use a 1/4" ratchet with a short extension for the drain cock. Take the upper shild off first. will make it easer to access.

Draining procudere:

Caution: Under pressure, the temperature of the solution in the radiator can be considerably higher, without boiling. Removing the radiator cap while the engine is hot (pressure is high), will cause the solution to boil instantaneously, with explosive force. The solution will spew out over the engine, fenders, and the person removing the cap. Serious bodily injury may result. Flammable antifreeze, such as alcohol, is not recommended for use at any time. Flammable antifreeze could cause a serious fire.

  1. Place a drain pan under the radiator drain cock.

Place the end of the tube in the drain pan.
  2. After the engine cools down, remove the radiator cap.
  3. Using a 1/4 in drive, completely open the radiator drain cock.
  4. Allow the coolant to drain from the system until the flow stops.
  5. Place a drain pan under the block drain hole plug.
  6. Remove the drain hole plug from the engine block.
  7. Allow the coolant to drain from the block until the flow stops. There may be more drainage from the radiator at this time.
  8. Install the block drain hole plug.
  9. Close the radiator drain cock.

Thanks for the responce. From the year the truck is old and need to minimize the disaeembly. It would be hard enough to break free those oil lines. there for for clarification, there is not access to put hose on drain valve. first there is no like barbe fitting maybe a 1/4 pretrudes as part of the valve assembly. second their is no clearence below the valve. there is a pan below the radiator prventing acces. It looks like you would have to remove drivers fender well or drill clarence hole for drain tube. Also since the water pump and therefore lower radiator hose is high that radiator drain valve would'nt the the block automatically drain through the lower part of the radiator? at least the portion need to r/r the radiator. The cut and paste from the shop manual does'nt quite cut it in this case. Sincerely XXXXXXX.
