Question

What is the statue of limitations and when does the time begin for forgery in the state of Tennessee? Is there a difference in the case of check forgery, forgery in filing an IRS tax return, forgery on a Power of Attorney form submitted to IRS, forgery in submitting an application for a TN grant for conservation funds. The amount involved in the grant which was received one day and checks forged the next day, was over $18,000.00

Already Tried:
Turned the matter over to the Elizabethton City Police/dective bureau, He refered it to the DA. Our organization approached the DA. He had received copies of the checks and documents but they were again provided. The DA has not moved in any direction and will not meet with our representatives.

Each act you describe is a separate crime. The acts involving the IRS would be a federal crime. Forging checks is a state law crime. If you cannot get the local authorities to act, perhaps you should initiate a civil lawsuit for the money. Is there any more specific information you wanted for a particular purpose?
