Question

My 100 year old house has a leak and draws cold air into a corner that is surounded by highly finished mateials and pipes. Pipes that freeze when it is very cold outside. If I open my front door the draft stops so I thought to put a polypropolene 6" pipe into the house to supply air where there are not any pipes. To test this I opened a window 1"x26" and it helped but not enough. The temp was 22 degrees. Do you know of an insulation that is very liquid and with a pressure that can be sprayed into the area. Or another fix?

Answer

Can you pack fiber glass around that area that has that draft problem on the pipes this way if something does go wrong you can easyly take the insulation off the spray on would not allow this but would work also

I've had this problem for 20 years and I did pack fiberglass. But the Area is so hard to get to without tearing the tile off the shower cieling. The fiberglass did not get the faraway pipes thus isolating them from any heat.

I may be able to get to the outside walls by drilling a hole in the kitchen floor above and maybe in a cabinet, where it would not be noticed. thats why foam is attractive.

I'm afraid that the foam will not travel far enough before it expands and stops. Do you know of a more fluid high pressure product?

I was hoping that you could tell what product to use and that would help me find the right contractor. If not, so be it.
