For Constipation the best thing to do is to take more warm water and she can take fibre rich diet. Fruits like papaya, pineapple, along with green leafy vegetables avoiding foods like bread, dry foods help in correcting constipation. I dont think constipation should allways be addressed by taking laxatives. Ginger tea also helps in correcting constipation. so let she try these options first and then think of taking any OTC laxatives.

I suggest that she takes soup of tomato, green leaves like spinach / other, mixed with carrots and beans. Let she add a dash of butter and lots of pepper to this. She can be on this soup diet for a full day and abstain from any other solid food. She can take juices freshly prepared as I had advised before. Once she starts having bowel movement without bloating she cxan switch on to soft foods.
