Hello doylus-
Clostridium difficile bacteria or toxin would not cross the placenta to cause any problems in utero- It would be dangerous however if a pregnant woman has severe c. difficile infection leading to either sever diarrhea or severe abdominal complications ( like "megacolon" or bowel perforation).
There would potentially be a risk of a baby acquiring C diff during the birthing process, but in fact a significant number of infants carry C diff without any symptoms at all- up to 63% of neonates carry the bacteria in 1 study. The receptors for it to cause the same illness as in adults apparently are not yet developed in a newborn, so it really would not be a big deal.
I hope that helps.
