Most all correct replacement regulators are set up with the correct gaps. I will look up your correct settings. Have you made sure your regulator is properly grounded ?

Answer

The settings on your Camaro's voltage regulator will vary by the amount of options.

But, here is the best advice I can give you. Do yourself a favor and get rid of those points and gaps and go with a electronic voltage regulator! Your regulator cap will fit right over this part, so it will still look stock. It is about a twenty dollar part, but worth ten times that much. If it doesn't fix your problem, chances are you have a direct short somewhere. Here is the part number; Wells P/N VR 715. Good luck and have good times in your great classic car !
