I have a gas warm air blower with a 24 volt 1 amp fuse in the ignition circuit that has failed. Am unable to obtain exact replacement, can I use a 12 volt 2 amp fuse instead?

It is a GSW McGlary or McClary, circa 1971!

The problem with your idea is that if a component is rated at less than 2 amps, it is possible to damage that component.
You really do need to get the 1 amp fuse.
I would measure the physical length of the fuse, there are normally just two types and then contact these people
