Question

My son went to work recently for a telecommunications company from out of state. He completed and returned the hire package and work 52 hours. According to the hire package his rate of pay was to be 20.00 flat fee (he's considered and independent contractor) and would be paid bi-weekly. He was paid for one week and was suppose to get paid again on December 26. He has not received any payment and when he has tried to contact the company no one returns his phone call. He'd like to know what to do next?

Accepted Answer

This is going to be tough to collect.

1) Go on the website of, or call the Secretary of State in your state.

2) Find out if the comm company is registered to do business in your state. If they are, get who the "registered agent" is.

3) File a small claims action against the company. To be served at the address of the registered agent.
