Question

I was sent to a Hospital in Louisville Kentucky to have an Angiogram done, They discovered I have an aneurysm. during the test my sutery was cut I was bleeding bad the doctor had sewed my sutery together to stop the bleeding. That has been 2 years ago. Shortly after that i was unable to walk I lost alot of time off my job I went to another Doctor he had to go in and repair the damage done by doing a bypass. Not long after that I had to be rushed back in the bypass had stopped working I had surgery again this time I had to have a stint done I have several hospital bills I am now getting a garnishment for all these bills I know I will have to have surgery again someday to have a major bypass done. I now take blood thinners for the rest of my life. I would like to know if I can still file a suit against the Doctor for this mistake that was mad its been 2 years and I can not pay all these bills I was recently laid off from work and now I have a garnishment on my unemployment

Info Request

Hi -

Thanks for your question. We're sorry to hear of this situation. Hang in there.

Could you please clarify your last statement. What happened when you contacted the first attorney - did he take the case? What happened next? What do you mean when you say, he indicated that you could "get another one"?

Answer

Due to the statute of limitations imposed on medical malpractice lawsuits, it is imperative that you contact an attorney as soon as possible. Please contact an attorney.

Kentucky requires that any medical malpractice action for injury or death be brought within one year from the time the injury was or reasonably should have been discovered. Ky. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 413.140 (Michie 1992).

One option is for you to contact the Louisville Legal Aide Society. Here is the link to their website and it gives you telephone numbers and email addresses.

In any event, please seek out legal representation near you in Kentucky!

Good luck and hang in there. You can get through this but don't neglect to get professional help.

Please hit the accept button.

Warm regards.
