Answer

Hi

Thats on the big side of domestic. Maybe worth looking at the small end commercial boilers available too .

Choosing between those 3 would depend on the fuel.

Natural gas , LPG or oil ?

Its Oil and will be placed in the cellar with access to either an existing internal chimney or it can be vented outside. I read the Grant have just introduced an award winning stainless steel heat exchanger and are offering a 5 year warranty on it. It also has a Sedbuk rating of 94% for their 46 60kw Vortex Utility Boiler. It looks the best efficiency but is it as reliable?

Accepted Answer

Hi

Not fitted that model and to be honest the manufacturers ensure they all get a band A rating no matter what ( sounds cynical but true) performances in the field are in the most part dramatically different ( even with the same make and model) and dependant on the system installer to commission and install to a high standard.

Historically Grant have produced fairly robust and 'simple' designs ( in gloucester we would call it agricultural ! meaning built to last and easy to fix ) which endears the brand to many engineers and the purses of many a customer!

They are not as sophisicated as vaillant who will always over engineer and over complicate their control systems. Yes they work very ,very well until they dont and are not simple or inexpensive to repair. Worcester , since being taken over by Bosch have travelled the same germanic route of over engineering.

Have you looked at the Halstead range?
