Optional Information

Sherburne, New York

Already Tried:
Talked with his lawyer and the probation officer. I do not feel that it is right or fair that my son can not leave the county, can not hunt which is his passion and the other two involved have no retrictions. My husband and I are also put in a position because if we decide to have a drink here my son can go to jail, what is good for one should be good for all

Answer

While he is on probation his hunting rights and firearms privileges are lost. Once he is off probation he can then have his hunting rights and firearms privileges restored. Persons convicted of felonies cannot own or possess firearms, but these privileges can be restored through pardons. If this is a misdemeanor charge, then his privilges are restored upon his completion of sentence.
