Question

I have a Ferroli combi boiler. The entire system is about 7 years old. Radiators get hot whilst gas is being burned and the pump is circulating but cool rapidly from the bottom whilst the pump is inoperative. Is this likely to be the result of sludge in the system and, if so, how do I tremove it? Will draining down and refilling the system work?

Hi

The pump should have an over run , ie will continue to circulate even if the boiler is not firing as long as the programmer is on constant or timed and calling. Check the pump is still running when the burner drops out.

Rads do cool from the bottom up as heat is convected upwards. You may well have alot of sludge . Add a proprietary c/h system cleaner in leave for the required and flush will remive any. Then add inhibitor to prevent the build up.

Hope this helps
