Hello,

Sorry to hear about this problem.

It is very difficult to say what could be the problem. Certainly, I do not want to jump to any conclusions that we have a serious neurologic problem on our hands, but, I will caution you to keep a close eye on her.

Another possibility is an allergic condition. It might not be such a bad idea to try giving her some Benadryl (an over-the-counter antihistamine) to see if it helps. The dose is 1mg per pound of body weight. You can give it every 8-12 hours. Keep in mind, if any other signs of illness present, or the behavior is getting progressively worse, I need you to get her to a veterinarian immediately. Even a course with a steroid may not be such a bad idea. but, no guesses. Due to the unusual presentation, keep a close eye out.

Hope that helps

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

I should have mentioned earlier in my question that during these fits yesterday she vomited several times, but that hasn't happened before. However she ate today, but has kept the food down. Does that help?

Answer

Interesting. I suppose it could represent a seizure-like disorder or even a hypersensitivity reaction to an insect bite (that's common). Good that her appetite has returned without further vomiting. With this information, I would add a reaction to an insect bite/sting to the list of considerations.
