My fingers tingle at nite while I sleep. My dr has told me I am pre-diabetic. Am I experiencing the numbness of diabetes?

Shake my fingers until 'life' returns to them. I have to flex them during the nite. I was recently diagnosed w/osteoarthritis in both my knees.

Greetings,

The feeling of numbness is related to nerve impulses .It can be due to pinching of a nerve or its root any where in its course , in the spine or in the arm like behind the elbow joint. The other probables are low calcium or electrolytes, vitamins , thyroid diseases, diabetes, or other nerve diseases. You need to see a neurologist for an examination & find out the cause. When at night it can be due to pressure effect from lying in awkward position. In case of diabetes it is more common in long standing & uncontrolled diabetics.
