XXXXXXXXX,

Is there any chance she got into something in the yard, does she chew toys into pieces, eat rawhides, get into the garbage can?

What color are her gums?

Is she able to keep water down?

Accepted Answer

XXXXXXXXX,

From what you describe vomiting for 18hrs (brownish blackish material-which could be digested blood,
drop in body temperature (which could indicate a body wide infection) such as sepsis or blood loss
that her gums are gray (again indicating sepsis or blood loss)
I would really recommend taking her to your veterinarian as soon as you can.

I cannot say exactly what got her into this condition but the symptoms you describe are bad and I do not see anything that you can do at home to make her better. She needs to be stabilized and then the root of the problem can be worked on.

Whether or not she would be ok to wait until tomorrow to be seen is not something I can say without actually looking at her. It is true, an emergency visit can be expensive but if she gets much sicker tonight you will be looking at a longer and more expensive vet visit later.

If I can answer anything else please let me know. good luck tonight

Dr. M
