I have a 1994 BMW 525i Touring - Manual Gearbox. I have had the car nearly 10 years and have never had any gearbox problems. About a couple of weeks ago I noticed that I was having troubled getting it into gear most noticeably when the engine was cold. It has been getting progressively worse until this morning when I tried to reverse out of my parking space and reverse gear just wouldn't engage at all no mattwer how hard I tried even when the engine had been running for a few minutes. I was able to get it into 3rd and 4tgh gears but that wasn't much use as I was parked nose-in.

Good morning-Are you able to actually put the vehicle in gear and it doesnt move?Or can You not get it into gear at all?If you shut the vehicle off can you now put it in gear easily?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I've just been out to the car -

With the engine running it will not go into gear at all and therefore will not move..

It does go into gear easily with the engine switched off.
If I then depress the clutch the gear lever will not move.
