I can not get the flange to turn on my insinkerator garbage disposal unit. Which way is it suppose to turn --to my left facing the unit or to the right. Either way it does not want to move.

Welcome to Just Answer.

They turn from left to right.
You can use a Allen wrench if you find the right one .
Or I used to use a broom stick from the top in the drain when I was a kid!
I used to get it trunning with the broom handle in the drain at 45 degrees turning it with force.
JUST BE CAREFUL IF THE BROOM HANDLE IS LONG NOT BRAKE THE WINDOW OR KITCHEN STUFF!
Thats what happened to me at 16 years old in my mom's kitchen!

maybe I was unclear...I am under the sink trying to take the disposal off and the ring with the holes will not turn either direction..How do i get it to turn so that the disposal comes off?

Hi the Expert you were working with had to leave and asked me to take over, do you still have the wrench you got with the unit for unjamming the unit? If so insert this into the holes of the flange and turn it to the left.
