Question

My Trane XL 80 ignites but won't stay lit. After the flame goes out the indicator lamp flashes 3 times indicating a pressure switch failure according to the diags listed on the control....where is the pressure switch ? Can I replace it myself ? and where can I locate it right away ?

ok when the furnace starts the small inducer comes on first on that motor there is a little tube that goes from the motor to the pressure switch, take the tube off the inducer motor and blow into it and suck. put it back, then were the flue pipe meets the inducer pull the flue pipe off and restart the furnace see if it stays lit

there is a rubber tube hooke on that motor somewhere it may me orange

I found the tube, and it has a Y....going to I believe 2 switches...I sucked and blew on the tube....same 3 light flash when I restarted the heater

Still the same issue...the flue is disconnected....I sucked and blew on the vacuum tube....I tapped on the switches...it reverts back to 3 flashes

There is a P01 High and a P02 low

you're speaking about the small motor that is mounted to the same manifold I pulled the tube out of ....yes it does run and is outputting the exhaust into my heating closet as I have removed the flue vent from it

u have a low fire and high fire press tube ok were the tube Y pull them apart and suck on each single tube going to each pressure switch try that, i know this seems repetitive but this is the best way. let me know

I went through the process again...now the heater is running....the flue is still disconnected and it is blowing heat into the house...should I put the flue back on

It did not cut offf when I put it back on and the controller is calling for heat

are the P switches just touchy or do you think they were stuck

they can stick but i would check to make sure ur flue pipe is clear andchimmney if it is then ur press switch may be going bad or like we said just stuck.

were the switches just stuck....I also noticed about 5 minutes after the heater was running the motor really kicked it up a notch and is blowing with more force now

Thanks for your help....hopefully I can find the switches tomorrow or do you have an online source
