Hot Water tank was replace with the apparatus that goes on the inside, because my tank would light and start up but wouldn't keep the water warm and had to light it about twice a day. After is was replace I heard a big boom sound like something heavy was dropped, and when i checked on tank is was lit and burning but i smelled like something was burning.

nothing to worry about ,,,, the new burner they installed most likely had dust built up init and it had to blow it out before the gas could build up enought for the pilot to fire it up ,,,, i seen this many times but if it keeps up call them back cause they may have to adjust it out a little ,,,,, hope this help
