hi scirocco, thanks for your question.
The capacity is 4.2 qts oil. If you go a little more then that 1-3 qts probably not to serious but any more then that and your going to start to get problems. The most common is seals start to blow out do to the pressure that the engine builds up. It can cause oil to blow past the pistons which is the most serious thing. There are a lot of problems that can be cased by it. I would suggest not over filling it. I hope that answers your question and i hope your engines ok if it was over filled. If you don't see any problems just empty the oil and put the correct amount in and you should be ok. Good luck

Hello,
Thank You for choosing Just Answer for your query. Yes, I can help you.
I assume you are asking about the capacity of a manual gear box. Here are the specs.
CAPACITY, Refill:
Corrado, Passat
2.0 Liter 4.2 Pint
Eurovan
3.0 Liter 6.3 Pint
Fox
1.6 Liter 3.4 Pint
Vanagon
2.5 Liter** 5.6 Pint**
Others:
4-speed
1.4 Liter 3.2 Pint
5-speed
1.9 Liter 4.2 Pint
You should use a synthetic 75w-90 GL-4 (not GL-5).
If you overfilled it, it could simply blow out the vent. Why do you suspect it is overfilled?
