hey dave, i have a 97 jetta and the reverse just went out,i have all the other gears. my other ?? is ---is there a relay or swich at the trans gone bad.

how is your transmission behaving otherwise? Is the PRNDL grey background with black letters (and a black background around the gear selected), or is the whole thing highlighted with a black background? Does it engage forward gears firmly, or does it feel mushy or slip when taking off from a dead stop? When driving in D, does it start out in first and go through all the gears normally as you accelerate?
