Not an OB GYN Question?
Question
I've had my period for about 6 days and it usually lasts no more than 3. It seemed to stop, but then a little light bleeding started. Any ideas?

Answer
Usually 10 or more days straight of active bleeding requires a doctors visit. If the bleeding becomes heavy and you are changing a pad or more in an hour or less, then you will need to go to the ER as this is excessive. Otherwise you should see your regular doctor. This can be due to many things including stress, weight changes, hormonal or thyroid imbalance, infection, polyps, cysts, just to name a few. I would make an appointment with your doctor to draw some blood to determine if this is due to a hormonal imbalance.
