Question

I woke up one morning about a month ago and the top fleshy part of my pelvic area was very very sore. like pulled muscles or something. then the pain moved over to the left side of my private area, (not sure what you would call it)this area sorta burns a lot and sometimes i have sharpe pains in it. this all started at the same time and it seems to occur when i am having what i call a pulled muscle or something that in is my buttocks. when that pains somes its is a few days later when this pain comes into my private area.i dont knwo if an orthopedic dr. would be the one to go to with this female pain. its in what i guess you would call the lips of my vagina. can you tell me what type of dr i should go to to see what is wrong

Dear XXXXXXXXX; There are quite a few possibilities to explain the origin of these pains, but it does seem more likely to be of an orthopedic origin. That is, the pains you are describing are coming from your back and the pain is referred to the groin or the vaginal area. Having said that, however, there are some gynecologic causes of this kind or pain pattern and you might have to see your gynecologist in additon to a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon. I would see the orthopedic doctor first, unless you have othr evidence of a gynecologic problem like vaginal discharge, irregular bleeding or vaginal itching or odor. Good luck
