Thanks for the question XXXXXX

I am so sorry to hear about your cat ...

In direct answer to your question : In my career I have encountered the situation where people have attempted euthanasia of their pets on their own a couple of times. This has always in my experience caused needless suffering to the cats concerned and a lot of stress and guilt to the owners. Some drugs which people try to use like morphine are not be suitable as in the cat they can cause excitement and hyperactive behaviour instead of sedation.

Most people are thinking in terms of using a drug or a poison. The very powerful poisons are under strict prescribing control so you would not be able to obtain any by normal means and I am not convinced that you would be certain they would bring about a peaceful pain and stress free euthanasia in any case.

I am so sorry I cannot be more positive with you, I would urge you to somehow find a vet to carry out this procedure.
