I bought it from a wholesale parts house.

Answer

It is very possible it is a bad rebuild. I have seen many pporly remanufactured alternators. Honda remanufactured would be your best bet.

You could try taking it back and see if they have a bench tester they can check it for you.

I took the old one to advanced auto parts and it tested bad. So i was thinking i could take this one there and have it tested before i bring it back. Is there anything that could be shorting the alternator out?

Answer

I realy doubt that. A cheaper cost part is not always a good buy because of the prblems associated with it. All the lights coming on is a sign of bad diodes in the alternator.

The Honda remanufactured alternators do come with a 3yr 36,000 mile warranty and I have seen one go bad.

The lights were still on right when i installed the alternator. So you think that i got a bad alternator and should take it back?

Answer

Yes I do think you got a bad one right out of the box.

Ok so if i take it back and get a honda reman it should fix the problem? New solution while jiggling the wires to the alternator i can get it to charge but lights are still on.

Answer

Sounds like something is not tight inside the alternator you have gotten. Do the terminals inside the plug look burnt?

No they dont at all they had dielectric grease on them.

Answer

Then I for sure think the alternator you bought is a defective rebuild.
