Not an Employment Law Question?
Question
I was classified as an Independent Contractor and the GA department of Labor has deemed us employees. My boss is "changing" us to employees at the beginning of the year and is saying that we have to be at work 30 minutes prior to starting without pay. My job also requires hours of calls, a radio show, and drive time between appointments that she is saying she does not owe us for. Can she do that and I should I sue her for back pay for making us do meetings, radio shows, and other tasks that are required without pay?

Answer
If you are required to be there 30 min early the employer must pay you for that time and for the time to drive between appointments. You should sue for any time that you were "at work" or required to be "at work" and she did not pay for.
