Question
Hi, My SEAT Alhambra TDI PD developed an overheating fault a few days ago. The coolant temperature is hitting maximum when the engine speed is above 2000 RPM for long periods and the heating has stopped working inside the car. The climate control is only blowing cold air even when I raise the temperature to HI. I managed to lower the coolant temperature from 120 to 90 by letting the car idle and leaving the climate control on AUTO before turning off the engine! I have checked the coolant level and it is full right up to maximum. Can you please help?

Answer
hi there, you should start by checking if the cooling fan at the radiator comes on when the engine gets hot. i suspect that it doesnt. if not you will have to investigate the cause. it is normally down to the switch but you will have to test to make sure. cheers. davie
Answer
hi there, another expert has also suggested that your waterpump may have a fault with a loose impellar. this should be checked if there is no fault with the cooling fan and switch. cheers. davie
