Optional Information

1997 Oldsmobile aurora v8

Already Tried:
after the engine shuts off, the steering locks. then after the car stops i can shut it off, and then it'll start right back up. i know it needs a new mass airflow sensor, is this the cause?

Answer

hello, unsure of cause, could be many things.A MAF sensor? yes, this could do it. I recommend getting the computer scanned and start by getting the code (s) and troubleshooting from there. The computer obviously detected a problem and the trouble code is stored as an aid to fixing the car. You can buy code reader at any parts store or most all shops have one. Lmk. Thanks
