Good morning.

 

Your Envoy uses an electronic control module to shift your transfer case. The indicators on the switch panel will give you feedback on the current mode and can also relay indications of malfunction.

 

If you press the 4hi or 4lo buttons and they don't alter the mode you were in, you need to connect an enhanced GM scantool capable of communication wth the transfer case control module to see what's going on.

 

If you have access to one of these tools, start by checking the DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES ) for the TRANSFER CASE CONTROLS. If no dtcs are listed, press the button for 4 high while in NEUTRAL with the engine running and tell me what response is from the indicators on the switch.. I will then be able to provide you with the proper diagnostic information from the symptom diagnostic chart.
