Hello,
Welcome to Just Answer and thanks for your question. Losing weight is simply a matter of taking in fewer calories from food than you expend in exercise and metabolism. Reducing calories by 500 per day will allow you to lose a pound a week. Reducing by 1,000 calories will produce a loss of about 2 pounds a week. No one should eat less than about 1,200-1,500 calories for women and 1,500-1,800 calories for men. Exercise at least 30 minutes most days will also help. It also helps to weigh and measure food for a week. Most of us are accustomed to "super-sized" portions that will feed a family, and underestimate the calories we consume by at least half. The links below are specifically for diabetics, and focus on healthy eating and exercise to achieve and maintain a normal weight and control glucose.
