Question

I just bought an 88 rx7, nonturbo, with only 124K on it. She has an erratic idle when you start her up. She revs up to around 18 then 15, 18 then 15, never really becoming steady at 9. Also, she is running really rich! you can smell the unburnt fuel. I have had an opinion that it's the fuel injector sensor? I have not had it to the dealership yet. my last resort! Thanks

opened air intake. turned idle adjustment screw.

Hi and wecome to Just Answer

the first thing with the rotary RX7 is to make sure the spark plugs are spot on and correct type fo the rx7 if in doubt replace tham as they can foul up or start breaking down and because its a rotary missfires feel a bit different also being a new car to your self you can never trust service history

 

Also check all the inlet system for any air leaks befor diving in and adjusting the system
